Getting here. The closest airport is Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City Beach, about 35–40 minutes from Blue Mountain Beach. Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is a similarly easy drive. Both airports are served by major carriers, and a rental car is the easiest way to get around once you land — while much of what you’ll need is walkable from the house, a car makes day trips to Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and Grayton Beach far easier.
What to pack. Beyond the obvious swimsuits and sunscreen, bring water shoes if you plan to explore the state parks or the rockier stretches of shoreline, and a light layer for evenings on the rooftop Sky Lounge, where the breeze picks up after sunset. A reusable water bottle and a beach bag you don’t mind getting sandy will earn their keep daily.
Building your itinerary. Resist the urge to over-plan. 30A rewards a loose schedule — a morning at Grayton Beach State Park, an afternoon with nothing on the calendar, dinner reservations for the nights that matter most. Book restaurants like Old Florida Fish House or AJ’s Grayton Beach Club ahead of time in peak season, but leave plenty of open space for wandering into Cowgirl Kitchen or catching a sunset from the Sky Lounge instead.
When to arrive. Most rentals along 30A run Saturday to Saturday in peak summer months, so plan travel days accordingly. If you’re flying in, an afternoon arrival gives you time to settle in, grab groceries, and still catch a sunset on your first night.
Groceries and essentials. There are grocery stores in nearby Santa Rosa Beach for a full stock-up, or you can pick up basics closer to home at Cowgirl Kitchen’s market side or Modica Market in Seaside if you’re passing through.
The less time you spend figuring things out once you arrive, the more time you’ll have on the sand — which, at the end of the day, is the whole point.
